    Which tours are available?

    Tours are available upon request. Just let us know what you'd be interested in and we try to look for a group or start a new group for you. Just send us an email info@yllasexperiences.com, call +358 40 727 0594 or visit our office in Äkäslompolo, inside the supermarket Jounin kauppa.

     

    Which tours are available this week?

    We update the tours of the near future on our front page. You can always ask other alternatives and schedules as well!

     

    Do you have a weekly programme?

    We don't have a fixed programme as we want to be flexible and guide tours that suit our guests' wishes and needs the best. However, you can check our front page for upcoming tours in the near future.

     

    Is a tour suitable for me or my group?

    You can find possible restricitions and requirements in the description of each tour. Husky, snowmobile and horse riding safaris are not recommended for pregnant women or people with back, hip, wrist and leg injuries. If you are wondering whether you are able to join or not, please consult us as much in advance as possible.

     

    How big are the groups?

    On our "open" tours the maximum number of participants is in most cases limited to 8 to guarantee and enjoyable adventure for everyone and to enable proper personal contact between the guide(s) and the guests. The minimum participant number is 2, or the price of 2. If you are willing to join with your own group, larger than 8, that's not a problem. Just be in touch and we'll adapt. Please note the maximum number doesn't apply to tours that are run by our partners, like husky and reindeer tours.

     

    Are the tours private?

    By standard our tours are open for anyone to join until the maximum participant number is reached. If you'd like to guarantee a private tour only for your group, it is in most cases possible for an additional fee. The additional fee varies, depending on the activity, season and group size.

     

    Where do the tours start?

    If nothing else agreed, the tours start at the starting time at our office, located inside the supermarket Jounin Kauppa. Address: Sannanrannantie 3, 95970 Äkäslompolo/Kolari

     

    Do you pick up from accommodation?

    No problem, if we just agree on it in advance. In most of the tours (except for short huskies and reindeers) pickup in Äkäslompolo comes without extra charge. In case you are staying outside the village, extra fees apply. For example from Ylläsjärvi we charge 40€ / direction / car.

     

    What do I need to bring with me?

    In general, please come with suitable outdoor clothing. Please check the tour descrition for any special things to bring. If you are unsure, just be in touch!

     

    Is there an age limit?

    In some tours, yes. In most cases, however, that limit is not 100% strict but it may be adjusted a bit. Especially on private tours it is easier to be flexible.

    Booking

    Where do I find the available tours?

    Short answer: Just ask! We don't have a fixed weekly programme but you can check our front page to see examples of upcoming tours. If you don't see the tour you'd be interested in, be in touch and in most cases we are able to make it happen, depending on the tour, season and group size of course.

     

    Is there a minimum / maximum number of participants?

    On most of the tours the minimum participant number is two (or the price of two). Maximum, in most cases, is 8. If you are travelling with a bigger group, we are of course able to adjust when needed. Equally, if you are travelling alone, do not hesitate to ask if we have a group available that you could join or if we can open a new one.

     

    How do I book?

    The booking is made by calling, emailing or visiting our office. Bookings are only confirmed after we have replied to your messages or said so on the phone. In case you want to book for the same or following day, we recommend to call or come by.

     

    What information is needed for booking?

    This depends on the activity, but in most cases: number of participants, age (kids or adults), prior experience, preferences (e.g. canoe or kayak, single or 2 on 1 snowmobile etc.), allergies and special diets, pickup needs and special equipment needs.

     

    Can I change or cancel my booking?

    Sure, but let us know as soon as you know! In more detail: Changes to reservations must be made no later than 10 days before the day of the trip. Cancellation is free until 30 days prior to the intended date, meaning we also refund the 20% deposit. 10-30 days before the day of the trip we will charge a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations are not possible anymore later than 10 days before the reservation. Please note that all animal-related activities, unlike other activities, are completely non-refundable after 30 days prior to the activity.

     

    Pricing & payments

    Where do I find the prices?

    The price can be found under each tour. In most cases the price is per person. On some tours the price depends on the final number of participants, but if so, it is mentioned separately.

     

    Is there a group discount?

    If you have a bigger travelling group and you are willing to book several activities from us, we can of course create you a nice package. The exact discounts depend on many factors, like the season, activity, group size and the nature of the tour. It's always worth asking (maybe not if you are 2 people willing to do something on Christmas Eve, though)!

     

    Is there a special price for kids?

    On most, but not all of the tours there is. If there is, it is mentioned under the tour description.

     

    What and when do I need to pay?

    To guarantee your booking, we ask you to pay a 20% deposit right away. The rest is due one month before your first booking.

     

    How can I pay?

    If you book well in advance, there are two choices: invoice for bank transfer or online credit card payment. Bank transfer comes without extra cost but a 3% commission is charged of online card payments. If you book onsite, you can pay at our office by card or cash. Many of the Finnish employee benefit payment systems are also accepted (Smartum, ePassi, Edenred).

     

    Can I cancel my booking?

    Yes, if you do it early enough. As a standard rule, a booking is binding after we have confirmed the availability and you have confirmed to book. However, cancellation is free until 30 days prior to the intended date, meaning we also refund the 20% deposit, if already paid. 10-30 days before the day of the trip we will charge a 50% cancellation fee.     Do you provide winter clothing for your tours?

    On snowmobile tours very thick snowmobile clothing, including gloves and boots, are included.
